Any and all help please?! Writing a Radio Drama set during WW2…General help required! :-$?

Question by bruzaj01: Any and all help please?! Writing a Radio Drama set during WW2…General help required! :-$ ?
I’m just beginning to write a radio drama set during WW2 and though I’ve been able to read and listen to a lot of factual stuff, I’m struggling to find any radio scripts that I can listen to, to get any idea of how I should structure things, and just general ideas…Like different techniques that I could use that would be effective for the scenario – rather than general radio drama techniques…

I know basically what my plot is going to be, and what the characters I’m going to have – but at the moment I’ve been unable to find any other radio dramas to get other ideas and what other events or music or situations. You know what it’s like when you’re writing drama. You just need as much experience and other ideas as you can find.

I guess the basic question is, does anyone know any good WW2 Scripts / WW2 Radio show(s) I’ll be able to find online? I’ve looked in the local library for different shows and audio books, but, once again – it’s all factual and documentarative – rather than DRAMA.

Any ideas? Thanks!

P.s. I’m the Media and Drama student and this is for a final project so it is kinda important. Thankfully, I’ve got a long time to go – but any help is gooooood :)

Hm… well, the irony of it is that during WW2 radio drama was basically at its peak, but very little programming was actually OF WW2… i.e. dramatized battles and what-not. So, listen to OTR to your heart’s content if you want to get a feel for the era, but if you want to hear battles and such you may need to look to some more contemporary stuff.

I run a radio drama podcast, one piece that comes to mind is a show called Captain Hudson, it’s set in the style of OTR but with more modern sound techniques… Give a listen to this episode: http://www.radiodramarevival.com/episode-79-captain-hudson-takes-off/
